In May, 2017, the synthetic ammonia process with the production capacity of 500 thousand tonnes/year, owned by Guizhou Guiyang Chemical Co,. Ltd, achieved a successful start-up with the feedstock of pulverized coal. Our pre-sulfided sulfur-resistant shift catalysts, KC-102S and KC-103S, were installed into the 1st high-temperature and 1st low-temperature CO-shift converters, respectively. After 1 month’s operation, the specifications such as exit CO concentrations and pressure drop through catalyst bed were all within normal limits.
Our pre-sulfided catalysts eliminated the sulfidation stage required by the conventional CO-shift catalysts, which shortened the start-up process by 3 days and saved approximately 5 million RMB operating costs. In addition, our pre-sulfided catalysts prevented the environmental pollutions by avoiding the use of vulcanizing agents, resulted in eliminating 10,000 tonnes of CO2 and 20 tonnes of SO2 emissions.
This successful application has been of great significance as it was the first time for our pre-sulfided catalyst KC-103S to be used on the pressurized pulverized coal gasification process and also it was the first industrial application for KC-102S which is suitable for low temperature and low water-gas ratio.
In November,
2014, our unique pre-sulfided sulfur-resistant CO-shift catalysts was approved
successful in industrial facilities for the first time, in the 400 thousand
tonnes/year synthetic ammonia processing facilities owned by Kuitun Jinjiang
Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. Since then there are almost 30 industrial
facilities used our catalysts or signed the catalyst supply contracts. It is
worth emphasizing that NovelC’s pre-sulfided CO-shift catalysts do NOT require
special protection during packing and transportation as the catalysts can
contact with air and do NOT get oxidized. Using our pre-sulfided catalysts, the
process can be started immediately once the reactor’s pre-heated to the
required inlet temperature under N2 flow, with no catalyst sulfidation stage required during
start-up.
