Located in the Nalin River Industrial Park, Wushen Banner, Inner Mongolia, China Coal Yuanxing Energy and Chemical is a joint venture of China Coal Energy and Inner Mongolia Yuanxing Energy. The methanol plant has the production capacity of 600 thousand tons/year, applying the coal water slurry gasification technology at 6.5 MPa(g).

In December 2017, with our unique pre-sulfided sulfur-resistant shift catalyst (KC-103S) loaded into the converters, the methanol production process was successfully commissioned by one shot. During the start-up stage, the system was initially heated up under N2 flow followed by feeding process gas. Our novel catalyst and effective technical services solved the overtemperature problem for the process gas import during the previous operations, with the peak temperature of 415℃. The CO content at the converter outlet was lower than the design criteria. After over half year’s operation, the device has been performing smoothly and steadily and the technical indexes of the converter meet the technical requirements of the conversion process for the catalyst.

As the pathfinder and pacemaker of the pre-sulfided sulfur-resistant shift catalytic technique, we have successfully applied our novel catalysts into almost 30 large-scale coal-based chemical facilities since January 2015 for the Kuitun Jinjiang Chemical Industry’s 400 thousand tons/year synthetic ammonia plant i.e. the first application of pre-sulfided sulfur-tolerant shift catalyst in China. With the long catalyst working life and a large number of successful applications, we are leading by a wide margin in the water-gas shift catalyst industry.
